Atorvastatin is used to treat high cholesterol. Carpal tunnel syndrome

Several studies have demonstrated an increased risk of stroke in patients taking statin medications (34, 35). Studies that have examined the relationship between statin use and stroke have yielded conflicting results. A significant inverse association has been found between statin use and stroke (36).
A recent meta-analysis of observational studies showed that a lower risk of stroke was associated with increasing levels of serum HDL-C in subjects taking statins (23). The authors postulated that statin could improve the blood-brain barrier.
